The project was led by an interdisciplinary team of scientists and other professionals from three land grant institutions and the USDA Agricultural Research Service, with funding from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s Climate Variability and Change Program.

Data: REACCHPNA Crops - Expansion of Urea Induced Toxicity Zone with Increasing Nitrogen Rates

The images collected here are images from a rhizotron study conducted in Pullman, WA. The study looks at how increasing urea fertilizer rates expands the zone of toxicity immediately surrounding the fertilizer pellets. The rates on the control were 4.6 mg/cm – 64.8 mg/cm. The direction of increase was randomized from right to left or left to right in order to reduce potential biases. The crop species used was a winter Canola. Images were set to be collected every 4 hours.
